About Ordering

 

We do realise that, for many people, ordering products from Internet-only companies can be a cause of concern. Our aim, therefore, is to be as open and honest with our customers as possible - after all, it is only by their dealing with us that we can succeed as a business. Below we have listed what we believe to be some answers to questions that form in the minds of many people when dealing via the internet. If you have any other queries, please use our FAQ form. Please note that customs duties may be levied against any item sent to a non-EC country and sorry, we have no control over this. GOOD NEWS for prospective customers in Australia! We have been informed by  Australian Customs that goods to a value of less than  AUD1,000 are duty and GST free (alcohol & tobacco excepted, so no problem for us there!). Payment Methods

 

Why is PayPal your preferred method of payment?

 

PayPal has proved in the past to be a) simple to use b) secure for both parties (we never see or hold your card details, for example) and c) it’s not necessary for a customer to ‘log in’ or have an account with PayPal to use it. We will accept personal (not company) cheques with guarantee card details or payment via internet banking but this option is only open to UK buyers. If you wish to pay by either method please contact us for further detail prior to placing an order

Overseas buyers must use PayPal.

If I order a product that’s in stock, when will I receive it?

It depends where you are! For the UK we aim at three working days from receipt of order. Overseas deliveries may take up to seven working days, depending on your local services.

If I order a ‘stock’ product that’s temporarily out of stock, what happens?

 

We’ll contact you  and you then have the option of a) a full, no-quibble refund or b) we can order the item for you - but please remember the long lead time for Dovo razors. Our stock situation is updated daily.

 

How will I know if you have received my order?

 

On order receipt we’ll send you an acknowledgement via email. However, email is not infallible, so if you don’t receive your emailed acknowledgment within 48 hours please either (preferably)  email us again  at this site or contact us at our sister site The Invisible Edge.

 

What is your returns policy?

 

UK buyers are protected under the terms of the distance selling regulations. Briefly, these give buyers the right to return an item for any reason within seven days of purchase. In this event, postage costs are to met by the buyer. The item must be returned in as new condition, unused and in its original packaging. We will then refund the cost of the product in full. For health reasons we are unable to accept razors that have been used.

 

What warranty do you give?

 

All products on this website are warranted free from manufacturing defect. If the product is defective in any way it must be returned to us stating when bought. We will return it to Dovo for their appraisal and, if they concur that a manufacturing defect is present, we will refund the purchase price. Please note that this warranty does not cover fair wear and tear, poor handling or mistreatment.

 

How do I go about placing an order for a ‘special order’ item?

 

As mentioned elsewhere on this site, special order razors have a lead time of eight to nine months from placement of order to delivery, although we are continually moving ‘special order’ razors to ‘stock razors’ as we ourselves receive them into stock. Orders for ‘special order’ razors, the Dovo Starter set and the Dovo 7-day set and cases are placed using our order form. Upon receipt of the order form we will send you, via email, a PayPal invoice for 50% of the total of the item. Please note that this is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.  This is because we ourselves cannot cancel the order with Dovo once placed. When the item arrives with us we will send another invoice for the remaining 50% of the total. When this is paid we will despatch your order. If your item is for any reason unobtainable from Dovo we will notify you and offer a refund of deposit. We believe this is the fairest way of proceeding and hope you will understand the necessity of this requirement.

 

Will my razor be ready to use when I receive it?

 

All our Dovo razors are hand-honed and stropped ready for use before despatch - this service is free. However, please note that honing can and does mark the spine of the blade during the honing process due to it rubbing upon the honing stone. We therefore cannot guarantee the razor will be unmarked if honed.  If you would like us NOT to hone your razor, please tell us when ordering! Please remember that razors need stropping before each use - we recommend the purchase of a Dovo strop with your new razor. If your razor eventually needs re-honing we do offer a re-honing service.  Costs vary between £10 - £20 depending on how much work is involved. General Policy Statements

1. Delivery Policy

We normally post goods out twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. If you do require an urgent delivery, email us - we’ll do our best to comply. Posting methods are -

UK - sent by either Recorded Signed For 1st. Class post or, for costlier items, Royal Mail Special Delivery service.

Overseas - sent by either standard airmail or, for costlier items, Royal Mail Airsure service with appropriate compensation and insurance cover. Where this service is not available we will use International Signed For service.

2. Refunds & returns policy

UK customers are entitled, under the term of the Distant Selling Directive, to return goods purchased via an e-commerce website such as this one for any or no reason, and receive a full refund. Please note that return postage in this instance must be paid by the customer, with any appropriate insurance and that goods must be in original packaging and unused.

Any goods found to be faulty upon arrival should be returned for refund at the address given below. We will also refund any postage costs incurred. If there is any dispute as to fault origination the decision shall be at the discretion of the manufacturers of the product. Due to the nature of our products we believe such a situation to be highly unlikely to arise.

3. Cancellation policy

Any order may be cancelled by email or phone without financial penalty. If goods have already been sent then they can be returned under the terms of our refunds & returns policy above. Please note that this does not apply to any goods ordered under our ‘special orders’ scheme where we have incurred financial commitment to the suppliers. If in doubt as to this point, please email us for clarification.

We do reserve the right to cancel any order where we are aware has been placed by a minor, in order to comply with English law.

4. Privacy policy -

Any information that you may send us will be held securely and not, under any circumstances, be passed or sold to any third party whatsoever. We do not hold any credit/debit card details for any customer using our normal PayPal service as PayPal is so engineered that we do not see these details at any time. For customers wishing to pay directly by credit/debit card via our PayPal Virtual Terminal service, please be aware that we will only hold your card details for as long as it takes to complete the transaction in hand, after which they will be deleted from our systems and any paperwork containing said information will be destroyed.

5. Pricing policy -

All prices shown on this website are inclusive of carriage - our policy is that what you see is what you pay. The different prices for the same item merely reflect the extra cost incurred in sending the item to its destination - you are not ‘surcharged’ simply because you may not be UK-based! In the event of any overpayment being made, say by accidentally using the wrong ‘buy now’ button, we will refund the overpayment in full.
